Jessica Meacham has a comparison of all of the parent-teacher communication systems. At my school, we have a school-wide Bloomz system. Last year we implemented it school wide.

The elementary teachers are also using both Seesaw and Canvas to promote voice. Strategies such as choice boards and playlists developed using Google tools afford students with greater control over their learning while also freeing up the teacher for targeted instruction or support.

Boomwriter is a free writing app but of course, you can use Google Docs too. It will take 45 minutes a day, so don’t sign up unless you mean it.

One of my favorite examples I saw during a coaching visit to Wells Elementary School was a Tic-Tac-Toe board that included formative assessment, purposeful use of technology, and differentiation, which you can read about in detail HERE. If you don't use one of these, no worries - the videos can be added to a class Google Site.

Tool #1: Google Drawings. One of my absolute favorite and most underrated Google tools (in my opinion) is Google Drawings. Our youngest learners will need some help and guidance, especially if their elementary schools have not been 1:1 or Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). Use Google Voice for parents and guardians to ask questions and get needed advice. Fully utilize a learning management system (LMS) if one is in place. Voxer can also be used.
