It goes beyond just telling people what to do by instead showing them how to do it as a means to either support learning or change. In the classroom, modeling aids in making concepts clear where students learn by observing. Learning, in many cases, results from observation (Holland & Kobasigawa, 1980).

One thing that I think summer is great for in terms of professional learning is investing the time to better understand how you can use social media as an educator. Social media can be used as a great communication tool for a district, school, or a classroom. Ah, the power of video.

When using social media, think about the platforms being used and mix it up by mashing together text, hyperlinks, images, and video. Consider a daily or weekly YouTube video that can be embedded in a mass email to showcase how teachers are successfully implementing remote learning.

With modern assessments, teachers don’t want students to just recite facts from their lessons–teachers want to know whether or not students understand the skills and how to use them. Moreover, if a project requires collaboration, then a video offers multiple opportunities for each student to contribute. Challenges.
