This past week, we traveled to the Golden, Colorado to attend the Conference of Online and Blended Learning (COBL), put on by the iLearn Collaborative. This allows those teachers connected to a particular book or unit the freedom to teach something they love while also sticking to the competency-based model. EdSurge is on the road.

DOGO also has a Books and Movies where kids can read reviews written by other kids for books and movies. Students can join DOGO to add their own book and movie reviews. This generally leads to really great class discussions and bunny trials of questions and research. DOGO is a great place for this activity to start.

In the box students will find story cards, masks, a puzzle, and a sticker book. The reusable stickers in the sticker book let kids create their own version of the Three Little Pigs. They can also practice re-mixing the story using the re-usable sticker book and app. Each piece comes to life when scanned in the app.

Students can create and share a book talk or chapter reflection, discuss current events, delve into a topic, engage in an online Socratic seminar around a given topic, collaborate, verbalize their learning process, etc.

Below are a few ways I can see our teachers and learners using Aurasma: A few years ago, our students explored How the World Works through the PBS series, and book, How We Got to Now by Steven Johnson. Learners could take a photo of the cover of a book (or book spine) that they just read.
