Welcome to Cycle 7 of The 30 Goals Challenge: Make it Meaningful ! Each year, teachers come together from around the world to accomplish 1 to 30 goals to transform the learning in their classrooms in a movement known as The 30 Goals Challenge for Teachers. Word clouds, or tag clouds as they are sometimes called, bring words to life in a visual way. They constitute graphical representations of word frequency that give greater prominence to words that appear more often. These words can be taken from an analyzed text or added manually. The more a word appears or is imputed, the larger it will be in the cloud.

Just because a technology is “cool” or “immersive” does not mean that it is well suited for the classroom. To truly have an impact on learning, classroom technology should go beyond simple engagement (i.e. “wow, this is fun!”). It must build skills or teach concepts. Virtual reality (VR) is a new technology that has classroom potential. If you have had an opportunity to experience Occulus Rift or Google Cardboard, you know what I'm talking about - it's awesome!

I've flown quite a bit this summer and have had some great airline experiences. Across the Atlantic on Air France, and back over to California on KLM. Really great flights and I Tweeted both airlines with compliments. I imagine when my son leaves for college in 4 years, I'll feel the same way. I imagine my heart will be breaking as I think about how fast time has flown and not being able to have things stay the same. I imagine I'll convince myself this is what has to happen and to be happy for him. I keep telling myself that lump in the throat goodbyes like this are tests of our courage.
