Online resources like TED Talks and Khan Academy provide an endless amount of educational videos that can be used in the classroom. One great example of this is the online classroom platform, Edmodo. Edmodo is also aligned with the Common Core State Standards, so it can be used to measure student progress.

Below is a sample from some of the portfolios: Math teacher Kanchan Chellani has been using her PGP time to create engaging learning activities with Adobe Captivate to flip her classroom. Throughout the year they met to develop extensive binders to compile resources related to text complexity as outlined by the Common Core Standards.

I can assign novels, poems, short stories, and current event articles for my students to read, and they can answer Common Core aligned questions and quizzes in the text. Since it is web-browser based, Curriculet can be used on any device or computer which is a must for my BYOD, 1:1 one day a week with Chromebooks classroom.

Lotta has been using Edmodo since May 2012, and really appreciates "the global teachers'' lounge" that Edmodo creates. Here is her recap of Edmodocon 2013: In Sweden Edmodo Con started at 4pm. I even said my thank yous and goodbyes in the backchannel group on Edmodo, and got some friendly waves back. Thank you, Lotta!

The students should be stakeholders in their education and have accountability, responsibility, and be actively engaged in and out of the classroom. I like Edmodo best for traditional administering of tests. As of now, Edmodo tests cannot be taken through the app. Does it align with Common Core Standards?
