The 21st Century Principal

At the NCTIES Conference this week in Raleigh, North Carolina, my presentation was "Transparent School Leadership: Managing Your School or District''s Online Reputation." The basic premise of the entire presentation was based on these assumptions about school leadership and the engagement of social media. School leaders no longer have a choice of whether to engage in the use of social media if they are going to communicate in a 21st century manner.

Wait You're Still not on Twitter? What are you waiting for?

Twitter isn''t going away! When I first started using twitter, I used it purely as a social outlet. Twitter has changed so much from the "What are you doing now" tag line to becoming one of the largest Personal Professional Learning Networks available to educators.

My favorite iPad case for kids!

Gripcase I recently had the pleasure of being a featured presenter at our state technology conference, MACUL. I had four sessions this year at MACUL: two featured presentations, a hands-on session, and a panel presentation. Though they had a booth in the exhibit hall, I was hoping I''d be able to reach out to them via Twitter. Yay for Twitter! The great team at GripCase was very personal over social media and sent over my choice of color to try out.

It is probably one of the reasons why Twitter moved from the idea of “what are you doing”, to “what’s happening” in the update box. For those reasons Twitter will never connect all educators.
