Blended Learning In my opinion, the best 21st-century classrooms are “bricks” and “clicks,” blending together the best of face-to-face and online. Blended learning is not new. Blended Learning Classrooms are made of “bricks’ and “clicks” and every teacher should be ready.

The drawbacks of social media are well-documented—like anonymous trolls posting negative comments just to spark controversy. In addition to negative commentary, Knowles acknowledged other challenges to adopting social media for education. Finally, for some there is a social-emotional toll.

Try to ensure that there is new content presented in a manageable fashion where students then have multiple opportunities to practice and then apply what has been learned. Consider also eliciting feedback from parents and students themselves to create a policy that realistically and fairly depicts what has been learned.

Through all this adversity, educators have risen to the occasion and have begun the tedious process of redefining education and what real learning really should be. That is how we must look at the present situation. You can’t re-envision or transform education if professional learning doesn’t change.

When I got connected on social media, my lens was expanded and I became aware of more organizations, as well as their supporting tools and resources. The district-wide implementation and emphasis on blended learning was strategic. The Catalyst program, built around a model classroom with an observation room with a two-way mirror, allows visitors and other teachers to observe a blended learning classroom in action.
