It started with a push for desktop computers which soon expanded to iPads and the wonderful apps (like art programs) that made tablets essential tools. Quickly after iPads, schools fell in love with Chromebooks and their amazing ability to allow students to collaborate and share, not to mention their ease of maintenance.

Apple also reached out with iPad Pros and other hardware at a discounted rate. A team from the University of Washington won the 2017 competition , getting $500,000. Starting in fall 2018 , each first-year student will get an iPad Pro, an Apple Pencil, a Smart Keyboard, AppleCare+, a case and a full suite of apps.

The Perfect Storm In 2014, Beaverson PS passed a bond with significant amount dedicated to technology and by 2016, Beaverton had 32,000 Chromebooks and 10,000 iPads being used in the district. Nebraska’s two historical bonds, one in 2014 and another in 2017 that positioned Omaha PS to take total advantage of the modernization of E-Rate.
