Protocols for these mobile devices have little in common today with how they were addressed a decade ago. In 2009, a National Center for Education Statistics survey showed that about 90% of schools prohibited cell phones during school hours. Mobile phones can do pretty much everything a computer can via apps and Internet access.

Ever since becoming connected in March 2009 I have relied on two primary mobile devices. She eventually gave me her iPhone when it was time for her to upgrade and this has been my primary mobile device for the past year. Back in 2013, approximately 60% of Maine's participating districts chose iPads. Now, as has been reported , a number of districts have opted to move back to laptops from iPads. In 2013, school districts were given the option to participate in one of five solutions, which included Apple laptops, Hewlett-Packard laptops, and iPads.

According to wikipedia, the first iPad was released on April 3, 2010 ( [link] ). Simon Sinek originally published his book Start with the Why in 2009. Mobile devices in education have been a messy journey. Oh to have read that book then! I find great comfort in knowing we aren't the only school that has muddled through this.

This marks my third year of this process: 2009-2010 Goals. iPad Coaching This year my school, Southfield Christian is implementing a 1:1 iPad program in the high school. Staff were given three days of training in the spring before summer vacation and were instructed to play with and use their iPads throughout the summer months.
