Khan is the creator of Khan Academy. He began his keynote by sharing a video montage of Khan Academy highlights and then presenting some impressive statistics on usage. The catalyst for Khan Academy began some years ago with a Yahoo doodle Sal developed to help a family member with her struggles in math.

American entrepreneur Salman Khan (not to be confused with the Bollywood actor of the same name) founded a similar project ten years later, namely the Khan Academy. According to statistics published by Gartner analyst Thomas Bittman, only 4% of the school and education system was interested in cloud computing in 2009.

Since 2009, Omidyar Network has invested $200 million in 100 educational for-profit and nonprofit organizations, according to Klement. They include Andela, Khan Academy and Code.org. the fund will continue to support education-to-career pathways for parents, and quality early-learning tools and access to childcare programs.

Luckily change came in the form of a little blue bird that gave me the kick in the butt that I desperately needed back in 2009. Students now have access to over 250 unique courses that cater to their interests. The best part is that NMHS teachers themselves are creating the interactive content as opposed to relying on Khan Academy.

K-12 context, including issues of accessibility , the copyright that should get assigned to teacher-created materials , and interoperability gaps and needs. I don’t fret much at all over some of what Clark raises: the acceptance and/or lack of broader cheer-leading for Wikipedia, MOOCs, or Khan Academy as success stories.

You know, if I taught math, I’d be harvesting videos from the Khan Academy or places like that, rather than creating my own.
