First, I did a few Google searches for editable templates, which led me to an array of examples in Google Slides. I then chose one that aligned to the content, in my opinion, developed a learning target, created nine different activities, and hyperlinked to supporting resources. to see student work and to hold them accountable.

The fact remains that there was no professional learning to prepare for the reality that everyone is facing nor a plan for something like COVID19. I always like to focus on the small wins when I am facilitating professional learning with schools and districts. Thus, the options are Zoom, Webex, and Google Meets.

Learning Management System (LMS) The consistent use of an LMS such as Google Classroom, Schoology, or Canvas works to create a more equitable virtual environment for all kids and families. It can become the hub for all lessons, videos, activities, assessments, student work, and SEL check-ins using Google or Canvas forms.

New classroom furniture that is flexible should be considered that can be arranged in ways to support collaboration and blended pedagogies that were implemented remotely. A lesson learned through this ordeal as we advance is to rethink how time is used in the classroom and innovative ways to give educators more of it during the workday.

Google Classroom is a free web service that makes it easy for learners and teachers to connect. Google Classroom may not have as many features as Edmodo or Schoology , but it does work incredibly well with the Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Drawings suite of free online software.

Educators now shoulder the burden to create lessons and activities that will enable students to learn at home. Virtually none have received extensive professional learning in this area. If the plan is to just “deliver” content though video, this constitutes no real difference from direct instruction in the classroom.
