EdPuzzle, now used in half of American schools, allows teachers to crop and format existing videos, add text, their voice, and questions, as well as other options that will enhance the usefulness of videos as teaching and assessment tools. This can be done online using a ZOOM or Chat room, or a set of discussion posts from the LMS, or a shared document. Make sure you include a lesson on Digital Citizenship which can be put online using free resources at Common Sense Media. The Right Question Institute even has a way to do QFT online, along with shared templates.

What type of performance-based formative and summative assessment took place? A learning management system can have a tendency to promote a “surface” type of assessment. Teachers must be intentional at exploring ways online to ensure that assessment is formative and allows them to plan scaffolding for next steps in learning.
