Today I gave testimony in favor of the passage of Texas SB 6 , which institutes an Instructional Materials Allotment (IMA) in lieu of the textbook allotment and the former Technology Allotment. Everything I accessed was an instructional material with content relevant to my course of study.

Encouraged by Dr. Orton, she compiled and published instructional materials which provided the foundation for what became known as the Orton-Gillingham Method. Of low-income 4th graders, 50% read below basic level (NAEP, 2011). As early as 1925 he identified dyslexia as an educational problem.

These became available for districts to order in the Spring of 2011. Format of digital materials being submitted is all over the map. Also need time for PD.

That number has doubled since 2011 and more than tripled since 2010. ”

They gave an overview of how Belton began experimenting with BYOD and small 1:1 implementations over the past two years, culminating in opening a brand new middle school (grades 6-8) with 1:1 iPads for students in the 2011-2012 school year. Belton ISD is very generous to share information about their innovative projects.

Apparently, the potential of this exploit had been well-understood and documented since at least 2011. After all, all software has bugs and can be exploited, and one test of the mettle of a technology company is how well it monitors and responds to incidents. Yet, consider that this was no zero-day attack.
