Fortunately for me I have already begun to work with my staff and students to transform the teaching and learning culture at New Milford HS as it pertains to cell phones as mobile learning devices. For the most part they used a program called Poll Everywhere to check for understanding, review prior learning, and informally assess.

Manzo asked the students to take out their mobile devices and submit their questionnaire answers using Poll Everywhere. This was an extremely significant event as this represented the first time that a teacher and students used mobile devices in NMHS as a learning tool.

One great resource I discovered is All Things PLC. Classroom Walkthoughs : This is something I have been researching since last winter and my PLN has provided me with numerous resources to get started. Initially I would like to see some pilot classes begin to use Poll Everywhere to increase student engagement.

The students looked at various websites that deal with modern day injustices and evaluated the resources. He also had students use Poll Everywhere to check for understanding in the beginning of the lesson. Montecuollo’s collaborative English classes wrapped up a WebQuest in the computer lab.

I wish my teachers had access to the digital tools and resources available in our classrooms today. Our students now in elementary school have never had a time in their lives where mobile technology wasn't present. Poll everywhere allows you to create quick polls, and the results are instant, in word clouds, or graphs, and charts.
