In March of 2009, I began to use Twitter, and it was at this time that I began to create a Personal Learning Network (PLN). A dynamic mash-up of workshops and coaching definitely falls into the sweet spot. It is crucial always to align any professional learning with current trends and needs.

I have also been blessed to observe great examples that members of my Personal Learning Network (PLN) make available on social media. My point though is that there is definitely room for growth in terms of validating all the talk with substance. The human brain processes images 60,000 times faster than text.

Recently at #ISTE10 a video was shot, interview several members of my PLN as to why they have one, how they use theirs, and more specifically, how Twitter has helped build that PLN. This is a video I will definitely be using in upcoming trainings and talks. Check it out.

From my point of view educators become quickly attached to one specific social media tool as their go to source for his/her Personal Learning Network (PLN). Take Twitter for example. Now anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely love Twitter as a professional learning and networking tool.

So many resources are being shared daily on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. You can either lurk and learn or develop your own Personal Learning Network (PLN) to farm the best ideas and strategies that are actually working in similar demographics. This definitely applies now.
