Some sort of obstacle course? The next day they came in to pre-designed obstacle courses, where they had to find the golden statue with the roving jumping droids, or fly through hula hoops with the flying droids. One of the things I learned was that I was working too hard the first couple of days of the unit. Programming needs?

Of course they do.”. So I totally get how you can teach with Minecraft. But let’s go into a lesson. You know, lots of teachers listen, and they will say, “Sure, they want to play Minecraft a whole period. Example Lesson: Using Minecraft to Teach Science. But how would you teach a science lesson? Give us an example.

So we have Project Based Learning, we have Global Projects. Carol: Of course, STEAM is a big thing that teachers are wanting to do in Maker Space. He is an expert in STEAM and STEM and science. OK, what else? 2nd Grade Trend #3: STEAM and MakerSpaces. Having kids get very involved in using all the parts of STEAM.

They read, of course, the companion novel that goes along with it, and they’re able to sort of “see” and visualize what’s going on in the novel. There’s Open Sim, of course there’s Minecraft. So in the program that I use, the Anne Frank house was actually re-designed in the virtual environment for the students to visit.

Vicki: Of course, I’m in the middle of nowhere. I figured even if I just do one lesson with them, I can get my dollar’s worth of use out of each one. So that’s kind of how it started. Did you get any of them, Vicki? Vicki: I couldn’t find them in my WalMart. Karen: Oh no!!! And I’m like, “Why do I not see these things?”
