Megan is the guest moderator on the Canadian Ed Chat (#cdnedchat) on Twitter who enjoys expanding her PLN and learning about new tech tools to improve her teaching and class experience. On Tuesday, I participated in a virtual conference - a professional learning opportunity - called #Edmodocon.

It was considered a social media application for professionals. I found that I could create groups of educators that had interests in education similar to mine. One element of my real world connectedness that I was privileged to have, was my attendance at local, state, and National conferences.

I have seen our group grow exponentially, both in attendance and in terms of professional growth of individuals that are taking part. Without professional development, educators become stuck in a rut, not knowing what best practices are and how to implement change in their school.

Read professional development books that interest you. Join or start a meeting group with like-minded individuals. . Join Twitter and grow your Professional Learning Network (PLN). I attended John Maxwell’s Live2Lead conference last year and had the pleasure of seeing Rachel Hollis speak. Strategy #5.
