New research offers hope to first-generation college grads

For those whose parents had never attended any college, often referred to as “first-generation” students, 57 percent were working full time and earning $45,000 a year, on average. The report’s findings came from an analysis of three different national surveys that followed almost 50,000 students from high school onward.
