My father was an elementary principal for 30 years and I always admired how he was able to inspire his staff to focus on student learning. If I was graded I would have probably received an A for running my school where strict rules had to be followed by students, mobile devices banned, and all social media blocked.

In early 2012, my district decided to bring a 1:1 mobile device initiative to the middle school students and I was fortunate enough to get a cart of iPads in my classroom. I am passionate about technology and its effects on teaching and learning. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University.

Think about it in a lower elementary classroom. Here is an example I use a lot where I asked people to give me their thoughts on what a PLN (Personal Learning Network) means to them. They are moving more and more into the mobile market and now you can do video calls on the iPhone. Very easy and lots of potential.
