I was able to deal with the ridicule from my tweeps, but it wasn''t until my wife got sick of the fact that I still had a common flip phone that I used for personal calls that a major shift occurred. She eventually gave me her iPhone when it was time for her to upgrade and this has been my primary mobile device for the past year.

My emotions were quickly put in check as my Personal Learning Network (PLN) came through as it always does. I immediately downloaded it in an effort to see if it could hold a candle to Google Alerts. Use the webapp, Chrome app, desktop version for PC, Mac or Linux or mobile version with the iPhone or Android app.

I did a very unscientific Twitter poll (click or see below), and I asked my Education Personal Learning Network (PLN) friends if they sleep with their phones and was surprised by the many responses. I keep my iPhone bedside, face down, with Do Not Disturb scheduled from 9pm to 6am, Night Shift activated.
