As I read the article, I couldn’t help but reflect on a recent article in PLOS One by Phil Grimaldi and his colleagues at OpenStax , which challenged us to be more specific in our theorizing about why OER adoption might improve student learning. Learning will only improve measurably if you ALSO do something else. Unsurprisingly, the students with more opportunities to engage in online interactive practice did significantly better on the final exam.
