But what I haven’t seen is kids Googling anything to help them with this project. Her talent won her an internship with a company in Atlanta (she telecommuted as a sophomore and junior in high school.) There’s a reason why this Invention project is a Google-free zone. I’ve even seen contact lenses that take photographs.

It might be typing up your notes in a Google Doc. Now, do you use robots? What about robotics? In my class, we use the Sphero robot quite a bit. See Top Tips for Teaching with Robots Using Sphero. So that’s my Go To robot. This company has no impact on the editorial content of the show. Leah: We do.

The maker movement is growing I can''t tell you how many sessions there were on 3D Printing, makerspaces, tinkering, hacking, etc. The vendor hall was filled with products and companies supporting and connected with the maker movement. Swivl is a rotating "robot" that follows you while capturing video and audio.

So even if you’re not very comfortable with holding a live conference call via Skype or Google Hangouts, the cool thing about Flipgrid is that you can record video messages with your kids. I mean, I’ve used Skype just a little bit, and Google Docs maybe a little bit. He’s the robot there. We’ll be adding the tool Flipgrid.

He has spent the last two months interviewing experts throughout the maker movement with the goal of creating a self-paced course for anyone who wants to design a makerspace. We live in an era where robotics and artificial intelligence will replace many of our current jobs. They will need to have a maker mindset.
