to share ideas, meet new people and see old friends. As a small company it’s hard to be heard over the noise (and the smell of popcorn). This year we didn’t exhibit at ISTE, but I attended the event to hold meetings and scope out the landscape. They are offering hands-on learning, demos and pens, bags, candy, prizes.

There were all the usual trappings of a startup demo day. Caffeinated founders paced the lobby in colorful T-shirts splattered with their company logos, polishing their pitches for their on-stage presentation and meetings with potential investors. You won’t find those companies in this batch. Here’s what we saw instead.
