It works well, that is, if you disregard student data privacy and security. Derek Newton argued in The Atlantic that Staton’s (and by extension Carey’s) analysis misconstrued what most parents and students want from schools. Certainly “free” works well for cash-strapped schools. And “free” doesn’t last.
