Up until Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005, McDonogh 35 had required entering ninth graders to have a high level of academic preparation. By 2019, the school had a student body with some of the biggest challenges in the city. He’s promised to add ACT prep, more Advanced Placement courses, and maybe even a STEM program.
