This is the progression of technology integration at CCS lower school since I came on staff in January of 2004 as a part-time related arts computer teacher. I wanted them to learn that technology was a tool for their learning. I was excited about having options for instruction and learning more about mobile learning.

The MLTI (Maine Learning Technology Initiative) program coevolved with the technology available. Over one-half of participating school districts allowed students to take home their laptops by 2004; a second RFP was issued in 2006; and the MLTI program expanded into high schools in 2009.

On one of these towers, the Albemarle County schools have hung base stations that link to broadband internet beamed up from the roof of a nearby elementary school.
