Of course, money is hugely important for K-12 education and a key benefit to adopting OER. Wouldn’t that serve the dual purpose of offering (what seems to me to be) an incredibly powerful professional learning opportunity, while also improving the quality of instructional materials? K-12 context.

According to the Brookings Institution there is strong evidence that the choice of instructional materials has large effects on student learning. Of course, schools can’t make the switch to digital overnight. In addition, she manages many of SETDA’s research and product development projects from conception to publication.

At an EdCamp, unconference-like event early this year in my school district, teachers expressed interest in having a conversation about equity of access. They wrote their questions about equity on half sheets of paper and taped them to a brick wall in the high school cafeteria where we planned our professional learning.
