If a teacher wants their kids to create, IPad is still the device to go with. Overall, I think IPad can be a great Education device, but there are pain points that come with it. If it were me, I would have sets of iPads in my school to let kids create, but I don't know that I would go one to one with them.

Five years ago our 6th-grade team was asked to pilot a 1:1 iPad initiative. I was intrigued by its ability to control the iPads in the classroom and its already made lessons.

Blogging can be used to engage children in creative writing , while making videos is excellent for problem solving and collaborative work.
