In March of 2009, I began to use Twitter, and it was at this time that I began to create a Personal Learning Network (PLN). Through the use of social media, I realized that I didn’t really need to be “developed.” I think the same can be said when it comes to the learners we serve.

Back in 2009, there were relatively few of us making these connections, and friendships quickly developed. We held the first Edcamp in Philadelphia in May, 2010. We used social media to send out the word. People tweeted about it and around the country and the world; people began to follow #edcamp!

The focus is finally becoming on the learning, not the tools.

In February 2009 the words of the world were collected and given to the Council of Conscience, a gathering of religious leaders and thinkers, who are now crafting the final document. The Charter was launched in November 2009. And we also organized India''s first edcamp, EdcampMumbai.
