Ed tech companies promise results, but their claims are often based on shoddy research

In 2006, Jefferson County Public Schools, a large Kentucky district that includes the city of Louisville, began using SuccessMaker, a Pearson product designed to supplement reading and math instruction in kindergarten through eighth grade. That same school year, Pearson paid for a study of SuccessMaker Reading in kindergarten and first grade.
