In June, the Edcamp Community joined our Digital Promise family. The Edcamp Community supports educators to organize and participate in participant-driven professional learning designed by and for educators. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Edcamps were typically in-person and locally focused.

Edcamps - unconferences where there aren''t traditional keynote speakers or vendors. Royse City is hosting EdCamp Awesome in Feburary 2014.

Even though it is hard to slow down or my schedule is busy, I have found that reading professional development books have challenged me to do more in my classroom, create better learning experiences for students, and grow as a leader. I was an early adopter of Twitter as a means of connecting with other educators, thanks in large part to Will Richardson and Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach. I loved the energy and collaboration that was happening there, as educators around the world found each other and built a network. We held the first Edcamp in Philadelphia in May, 2010.
