When I first began my job as an Assistive Technology Coordinator in my district back in 2008, the lines between educational tech and assistive tech were pretty crisp. I worked exclusively with students in special education classrooms who needed a way to access the curriculum or a way to communicate effectively in the classroom.

A few techie points: It was terrific hanging out with many of the folks I have corresponded with on Twitter through the #slpeeps community, and meeting some I had never met IRL (in real life). Additionally, WiFi was in my experience generally accessible in conference rooms, and free to boot! At heart, I''m a context guy.
