Trends to watch in 2015: education and technology

Here I’d like to identify trends from 2015 which seem likely to persist or grow over the next year. The forthcoming Horizon Report thinks BYOD is one of the two major tech trends for 2016. 2015 had a martyr for textbook costs, but I haven’t seen this inspire any movements towards cheaper texts.

Higher education technology predictions for 2014

Expect them to be reported on enthusiastically in 2015 conferences. By the end of the year expect the start of articles on Inside Higher Education complaining about open badges with many more to come in 2015 as recalcitrant faculty start to become aware of ‘micro credentialing’ as it will be badged. Nothing new in the LMS space.
