Prior to the 2021-2022 school year, the district’s assessment data showed math scores were low, contributing to 14 out of 48 schools in the district being identified as low performing in 2019. However, there were still 25 elementary schools in the district without access to Hazel’s mental health resources.

public school students in grades 3-8 from fall 2021 compared to students in the same grade in fall of 2019, the last quarter unaffected by COVID-19. Student gains across the pandemic (from fall 2019 to fall 2021) lagged norms for pre-pandemic growth, especially in math.

In fall 2019, Michelle became the Content Lead for CRCSD’s 32 school libraries. Her advocacy resulted in $1.5 Her commitment and advocacy drove the expansion of Hazel services to include both in-home and at-school mental health support, plus the addition of elementary schools to the program.

All of the presenters said that due to the growing sophistication of attacks, they include cybersecurity training as part of professional learning. In 2017, the district opened MOSAIC, a personalized learning elementary school, and created the MyPath program, which allows high school students to create their own class.
