If you’ve ever used Fitbit, Mint, Toggl, or any other app that tracks your fitness, financial, or productivity trends, you’ll understand the profound impact that METRICS has over encouraging you to make small, daily investments toward a larger goal

You’re just so much more likely to “stick with it” when you’re able to visualize your progress, and this is what inspired Brainscape to seriously up our metrics game with the new study metrics screen!

To check it out, tap on the white bar graph icon (📊) in the top right corner of your mobile dashboard in Brainscape. This will reveal a detailed metrics screen of the amount of time spent and number of cards you studied over the past 7 days, one month, and one year.

There are all kinds of gems to unearth here—like your study streak and daily average time spent studying—but the biggest treasure is powerful motivation to maintain your stats or improve them, even if it’s for just an additional 5 minutes on those days when I really don’t feel like it.

In other news (coming soon…)

  • Easier, faster flashcard creation using AI (heck yeah!)
  • Collectible achievements and awards to mark your study milestones and keep you motivated.
  • Continued web study algorithm updates to make your study experience in Brainscape as easy, efficient, and painless as possible!

Got a feature you’d like to see? We’re constantly looking for inspiration, so get your butt into the Brainscape community and let us know your top feature request!

Here’s a guaranteed chuckle…

Get you some Brainscape Swag!

Oh yeah! The Brainscape Swag Shop is officially open, and get this: it’s not for profit. This means you can suit up in the coolest tees, hoodies, caps, and more—in a cool variety of colors—for essentially cost price (plus shipping).

There are also mugs, water bottles, bags, backpacks, and more, all emblazoned with Bruce, Brainscape’s cute logo. Sure, you’ve gotta be a die-hard fan to buy swag, but even Nike had to start somewhere. Ha!

What else would you like to see offered in the store? Let us know your thoughts!

Say hi to Brainscape’s Chief Product Officer, Andy Lutz

Brainscape's CPO Andy Lutz

Meet Brainscape’s tall, fair, and dashing CPO, Andy Lutz, who must have been an insanely talented juggler in his past life to manage the amount of balls he constantly has in the air. To cope, Andy’s favorite productivity habit is doing tomorrow’s high-level planning during his “last hour of coherence the night before”.

When asked what his proudest Brainscape accomplishment is, Andy agonized over the app, website, and user experience, but the thing that ultimately won out is the world class team he’s played a significant part in building: “Sure, Brainscape is tech. But you only end up with good technology in pursuit of greatness if you build the right team!”

As for what Andy wishes users knew about Brainscape, it’s that software development is hard! “I wish it were easy. I wish there were no bugs. I wish we could build all 3,187 of our product enhancement ideas in the next week. But not even Apple can do that. I just hope our users know that, every day, we’re trying to make the best decisions possible, even while tortured by all the things we cannot do as fast as we want to do them.”

Well, we think you’re doing just great, Andy! Thanks for your vision, leadership, and dad jokes!

Our favorite place to hang out: the Brainscape Community

You know Thea? She’s a real person! In fact, she is (I am) writing this very email as we speak! Also: Rory, Justin, and Chuckee? Real people. You’ve seen their names in your inbox countless times and now we want you to hop into the Brainscape Community on Discord and talk to us in person!

Here, you can also chat with other self-motivated learners who are studying exactly the same subjects as you; boss us around by telling us how we can improve; and receive free training on learning as efficiently as humanly possible. What’s not to love? Join the Brainscape Community today!
