Phenix City, Ala.— Phenix City Schools is proud to announce the exceptional success of our robotics teams at the recent “Bots at the Fair” tournament. The competition brought together 24 teams from various schools, showcasing their robotics skills and innovation in the VEX Robotics Competition.
The day’s highlight was Team 36867D, composed of Brookelyn Bedford and
Taelynn Teel, who secured the prestigious “Excellence Award.” This
remarkable achievement places them as the overall top team in the tournament,
outperforming competitors from schools like LAMP, Vestavia Hills, Oak Mountain,
Pike Road, and Westminster at Oak Mountain. Their victory qualifies them for
the State Championship and positions them at an impressive 57th place globally
out of over 700 teams.

The “Excellence Award” acknowledges a team’s ability to meticulously
document and explain their Engineering Design Process through their Engineering
Notebook and Team Interview. Additionally, it recognizes the team’s exceptional
performance in the competition, placing them among the top-performing teams at
the event. The winners exemplify dedication, devotion, hard work, and teamwork,
setting a benchmark for quality in all their endeavors.
Team 36867A, consisting of Lorena Morris, Kaiden Crocker, and Zhanai
Dillard, as well as Team 36867B, made up of Marshall Wyrick, Nicholas Sasser,
Brandon Ector, and Kowen Kimber, also had an impressive showing in the
individual Skills Challenges. They finished 9th and 11th, respectively, in the
rankings, a noteworthy accomplishment considering the competition’s high
caliber.
The next competition is in Headland, Alabama, on November 4, 2023.
