How hands-on education creates better educators

To become better educators, teachers need the right tools--and the hands-on training--to help them face new and upcoming challenges head-on

The profession of Educator is one of the most important occupations in the world. A great teacher inspires, motivates, encourages, and has direct impact on their students’ academic and career goals.

Educators are held to very high standards and are expected to have advanced knowledge and skills, as well as adopt and adapt to evolving practices and technologies. Great teachers know that their role first and foremost is to treat the student as an individual and understand their needs, learning styles, and abilities.

A teacher’s job is no longer simply delivering facts and information, but to help students learn how to use them, develop abilities to solve problems, make informed decisions, and build knowledge.

To become better educators, teachers need the right tools to help them face new and upcoming challenges head-on. These tools must be reliable, scalable, and able to meet the needs of a shifting classroom model—whether it’s delivering lessons to students remotely, in a classroom, or in a hybrid environment.

An important part of professional development is through hands-on training on hardware and software tools. Although professional development usually refers to classes, seminars and/or workshops, it also can include conferences, taking online courses, and independent study, among others.

Educators have many resources they can use for professional and personal growth. Aside from technology and mentoring programs, there are other resources such as education conferences and programs that provide teachers an environment where they can engage in practical training and with other teachers.

Hardware and software technologies are being updated and developed regularly and can transform teaching styles to be applied in daily lessons. Teachers and students collaborate by using their devices such as smartphones, tablets, or laptops and connecting to interactive whiteboards. Teachers can achieve higher levels of productivity and efficiency by applying digital tools to their curriculums but knowing how to use these tools is key. This is where hands-on training comes in.

There are organizations and conferences that provide trainings and workshops as part of their programs, particularly for teachers that focus on STEM subjects and aim to inspire those who teach, at all levels. From the latest in software and computer graphics to art history and physics, programs exist to inspire those who teach—at all levels.

Corporations also bring together experts from within the company, developers, engineers, and the like, to provide seminars and clinics to teach and give workshop experiences to educators on the basics of their software and hardware. Educators can learn from these specialists and understand this knowledge can be applied into real-life classroom lessons.

As the educator becomes more experienced, and lessons are applied in the classroom, student engagement and retention of information can increase. Teachers can provide instant input and feedback by utilizing the hands-on experience gained from these workshops, conferences and programs.

STEM students and students in general will benefit from educators that can transform their lessons. Essential skills are developed and boosted which will help students prepare for future careers.
