Let’s center educator voice in the design and selection of edtech tools.

Over the last year and a half, the level of urgency to find flexible tools that support educators and learners in creating powerful learning experiences increased tenfold, with edtech application use nearly doubling in one year. More than ever, the edtech industry needs to respond to the ever-changing needs of educators and learners. To do that, we need to ensure educator voice is the driving force for product design and create clear signals in the marketplace that reflect that process.

Digital Promise is among a group of nonprofit organizations who believe educator voice must be at the center of this work, market transparency matters, and clear market signals are essential.

Educators and education leaders deserve a way to quickly capture information about the quality of edtech products: will they benefit learners, align with the classroom priorities, and work within existing infrastructure?

To answer all those questions in one place requires collective action across the edtech marketplace by education leaders and educators, edtech product teams, and organizations working to increase transparency. It demands an intentional breaking down of silos, the liberalization of information, and the idea that the teacher is the consumer whose needs deserve to be met.

Digital Promise, The Center for Education Market Dynamics (CEMD), EdTech Evidence Exchange, International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), and Project Unicorn are thrilled to announce their partnership to empower education leaders and educators with market transparency information to equip them to make edtech decisions. The collaborative is committed to creating a transparent edtech market to ensure that educators can leverage high-quality edtech to build powerful learning experiences. Through collective action, they will work together to provide education leaders and educators with easy access to valuable information, including certifications about edtech quality, accessibility, usability, interoperability, and implementation to find the right tools for learners.
