Hechinger Report higher-education editor Jon Marcus appeared on WNYC’s Brian Lehrer Show to speak about whether cost is keeping people from higher educations at a time when some presidential candidates have proposed making college free.
Several callers also gave accounts of how they or their relatives or friends had been thwarted by the cost of college.
