Tips for Using Google Slides
Here are a few features of Google Slides that may help you to up your Google Slides game.
1. Slides.new
I love using Google Slides and the fastest way to make Slides is going to slides.new
2. Choose Your Layout
In the toolbar the first icon is a plus icon. Next to the plus icon is a tiny arrow. Click on the tiny arrow to show the layout options. This will add a new slide with that layout.
3. Change Your Layout
You can change your layout at any time. When you are editing a slide but do not have any items selected the toolbar will show the option for “Layout.” Click on this to select a different layout choice.
4. Use the Webcam
When we get creative with how we use Google Slides the webcam becomes very helpful. Notice in the toolbar is a square with mountains icon to allow you to add images to your slide. Clicking on this gives you many options for adding images. The bottom option “Camera” will let you add images from your webcam. Note that you must give Chrome permission to access your camera when in Slides.
5. Drag Images
You can drag images from your computer to a Google Slides slide.
6. Select multiple Items
Hold down the SHIFT key and click on items on the slide. This will allow you to have control over selecting multiple items at once.
7. Use the Theme Builder
Under the VIEW menu is the option for “Theme Builder.” This helps you to create interactive templates. Anything you add to the theme builder layouts will be LOCKED down on the background. The exception is when you add placeholders to a slide. Those are not locked down.
