What is an EdCamp?

EdTech4Beginners

Edcamps are organic, participant-driven professional learning experiences for educators across the country and worldwide! I would say the key difference between an Edcamp and a typical educational conference is that they are unstructured and the sessions are based on sharing expertise. Here is how my experience of Edcamp went (I live tweeted during the day): What happened at #edcampBKK ? Follow the event on Twitter pic.twitter.com/2YVcTCzTgW.

What is a Twitter Profile?

My Island View

The basic principle of Twitter is that if you follow ten people on Twitter, you will only see the tweets of those ten people. The ideal way to follow someone back is to first examine his or her Twitter Profile, which has public access. A very important number on that profile is how many tweets the person has tweeted while on Twitter. It speaks to their Twitter interaction. That is probably the best indicator of how each person engages Twitter.

The do-it-yourself conference is coming to your local public broadcaster, as part of a new venture between the Edcamp Foundation and PBS Education. Between now and May, 10 local PBS affiliates will host a series of specially branded events, called PBS Edcamps, aimed at educators and caregivers of students in Pre-K through third grade. That represents a huge—and relatively untapped—market for Edcamps, which rely on social media, such as Twitter, to reach educators.

Twitter Equals Growth Mindset?

The Principal of Change

This could be something to applied the idea of educators using Twitter. With the Twitter now implementing video in the service, it will be something that people will not only be open to learn, but I am sure will do interesting and new things with. It is probably one of the reasons why Twitter moved from the idea of “what are you doing”, to “what’s happening” in the update box. For those reasons Twitter will never connect all educators.
