It was an excellent experience and I gained a lot of knowledge, ideas and resources from fellow educators. I would say the key difference between an Edcamp and a typical educational conference is that they are unstructured and the sessions are based on sharing expertise. Edcamp: Maker Promise was hosted by Friends’ Central School in Wynnewood, PA. As part of the Maker Promise collaboration between Maker Ed and Digital Promise, we held this first Edcamp: Maker Promise to launch a new partnership between Maker Promise and the Edcamp Foundation.

I attended my first EdCamp, called JEDCampNYNJ and on a Sunday last spring. I was fortunate enough to attend incredible sessions and meet some very passionate educators. The connections with educators with expertise in various fields was particularly useful. I was also fortunate enough to meet Abe Tawil, an incredibly gifted and brilliant educator who literally talked me into working at a yeshiva in Brooklyn, something that was not even on my radar upon attending the event.
