Differentiated instruction was conceived in the 1950s. Overall, the rise of online learning — from MOOCs to Khan Academy — makes “blended” learning that combines computer and live instruction feel normal to students. Students would not be recipients of lessons, but drivers of them. Hardly earth-shattering results.
