For some time, educators have been subverting established methods and turning their backs on institutional tools and technologies such as the managed learning environment (also known as LMS or VLE). I would argue that these are 'punk' educators, whether they realise it or not.

None of this happens in an LMS (or VLE), in fact, that systematic design of that system is anathema to all of these crucial elements of educating in the digital era. I am not a fan of the MOOC as they''re sold by Coursera, Udacity, and the like. That said, I had to breakup with EDUPUNK in 2010 because it wasn''t fun any more.
