Science Buddies – Looking for inspiration for a science fair project? Science Buddies has over 1,000 Project Ideas in all areas of science. It is also important to note that Science Buddies isn’t just for science fairs! Let your students try out science activities for a quick science exploration or just plain science fun.
Algodoo – An amazing free program, Algodoo gives teachers and students the opportunity to play with physics. One can use their own hands and simple drawing tools to design, construct and explore the world of physics. If it sounds like an interesting idea, than Algodoo is that program to take a look at. It is available for iPad, Windows, or Mac.
Code Academy – If your students are into coding… this maybe the place to go. With a mission set on teaching the world how to code, Code Academy just might be the right program. There are resources to help educators with coding and tools to make it happen in the school.
Maker Camp – Here is an opportunity to join young inventors and artists from around the world on Google+ to make awesome projects, go on epic virtual “field trips,” and meet the world’s coolest makers. You will find that Maker Camp inspires kids ages 13-18 to embrace their inner maker, get their hands dirty, fix some things, break some things, and have a lot of fun doing it. Everything is archived so all lessons and projects will be available at Maker Camp even after the summer.
EchoEarth – The mission of this site is to equip today’s youth with relevant tools, interactive resources and timely information to help them take action by identifying and working to solve environmental challenges in their communities. It utilizes service-learning to help students identify the root of a problem, develop an action plan and execute that plan in their community. There is a wonderful collection of rich online resources to assist teachers and students.
Graphite – Common Sense Media welcomes offers you Graphite, a platform created to make it easier for educators to find the best apps, games, and websites for the classroom. You will find many of these resources embrace STEM.
Popplet – Teachers can use this tool to promote student metacognition and learning. Used as a mind-map, Popplet helps students think and learn visually. Students can capture facts, thoughts, and images and learn to create relationships between them. This is an ideal classroom to promote STEM and conceptual thinking
AAS – The American Astronomical Society has a wealth of STEM information in relationship the study of the universe. This link leads to the education page. Here one can find educational opportunities and resources to enrich the STEM classroom.
STEM Education Coalition – The STEM Education Coalition works aggressively to raise awareness in Congress, the Administration, and other organizations about the critical role that STEM education plays. Discover an abundance of STEM ideas, facts, research, and resource to help with STEM advocacy.
EDpuzzle – Use only what is needed from any video. Search for videos from YouTube, Khan Academy, Learn Zillion, Crash Course, etc. Insert audio notes or record over a video with voice. Add questions along the video to give students immediate feedback and track their understanding. Upload your videos to EDpuzzle and make them perfect for any STEM class.
