How I Create Video Lessons for My #OnlineClasses & #FlipClass Using @Wacom & @NotabilityApp #RemoteLearning #RemoteTeaching #edtech

I have received so many questions from educators asking how I digitally annotate my YouTube videos & handwrite during my online class sessions.

In this video, I will walk you through my process for creating instructional videos & for content delivery with digital ink — whether that is in a synchronous setting (ie: Zoom, Google Meet) or asynchronous (ie: YouTube, grading student work, digital notetaking).

Table of Contents:

  • 0:00 My setup with Notability, my Mac + Wacom, Camtasia
  • 2:00 My setup in Notability, organized with subjects & dividers
  • 2:30 Using Notability’s search with OCR (finds handwritten notes in addition to typed text)
  • 3:30 Changing pen colors
  • 4:00 How I create my YouTube/flipped classroom videos by pulling my PowerPoint into Notability (with drag & drop)
  • 4:30 How I set up my screenrecording to only capture the area of the screen I’m writing on (using Camtasia)
  • 5:45 Exporting annotated files from Notability as a PDF
  • 6:00 My process for giving students feedback on their work
  • 6:45 Using a blank page to “whiteboard” during a Zoom/Google Meet session or in the classroom
  • 7:30 Shape detection in Notability to draw perfect grids/lines/other shapes
  • 8:30 Using Notability for my personal planning, with handwriting

Please note that when I am teaching in a synchronous setting (ie: Zoom, Google Meet), I almost always make that an interactive experience for students — so I tend to use Pear Deck with my Wacom tablet for those sessions. Here is a video where I talk more about that:
