Why #Edcamp Is So Awesome

The Web20Classroom

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending another Edcamp. EdcampElon was another event in a long like of teacher-driven professional development that can have a lasting impact on the learning of all who attend. Don''t know what an Edcamp is or looks like? My experience with Edcamp has been that of a participant and an organizer (EdcampNC!). Edcamp appeals to educators from all walks of life. And lecture is discouraged anyway at an Edcamp.

#EdcampHOME is Where the Heart is. for Learning

Baker's B.Y.O.D.

I remember attending my first Edcamp in November and being awed by the session board: its masking taped grid on a cement block school wall and the giant post it notes used for session creation; the organizers on laptops furiously copying the schedule to a Google spreadsheet. edcamp #edtech collaboration edcamp gobstopper Google EdcampHOME demonstrated the power of organized mulitple Google Hangouts and educators'' desire to learn.

and world history events. You may remember Stanford History Education Group (SHEG) for its groundbreaking and utterly depressing report, Evaluating Information: The Cornerstone of Online Civic Reasoning. In the November 2016 Executive Summary , the researchers shared: When thousands of students respond to dozens of tasks there are endless variations. That was certainly the case in our experience.

Kate Baker (@KtBkr4) July 20, 2012 Long story short, Liz and I threw together a session at the 2012 TeachMeetNJ on Edmodo and it went so well that we continued to present together at local edcamps and decided to submit a proposal to present at Edmodocon in the summer of 2013. Find a conference buddy who has attended the event previously and either travel together or plan to meet up.
