Really Great Reading Launches Structured Literacy Instruction Professional Learning Community

edWeb.net is excited to announce that Really Great Reading has launched Structured Literacy Instruction, a free professional learning community on edWeb that champions literacy education, catering to educators, school leaders, and district administrators alike. The community will provide a rich array of resources, collaborative opportunities, and expert guidance to help revolutionize literacy education and empower students to thrive.

Really Great Reading is kicking off the launch of its community with an edLeader Panel on Closing the Reading Gap for EL Learners: Your Multilingual Learners Are Here, on Thursday, April 18th at 2 pm ET. Dr. Michael Hinojosa, Superintendent in Residence for the Council of Great City Schools and Texas Urban Council, and Dr. Tony Smith, Deputy Superintendent for Denver Public Schools (CO), will share insights on the application of the Science of Reading when it comes to English learners and current gaps that have yet to be met in the literacy space. Educators can register to attend live or receive the recording here.

Dr. Donna Wright will serve as the moderator for Really Great Reading’s edWeb presentations. Dr. Wright’s 40-plus-year career as an educator includes being named the 2020 Tennessee Superintendent of the Year. Currently, she is working with several educational organizations as a consultant and advisor, as well as serving as a Lead Superintendent with AASA and the National Women’s Leadership Consortium.

Scott DeSimone, the CEO of Really Great Reading, commented, “We are thrilled to be partnering with edWeb in the launching of our new Structured Literacy Instruction community. At Really Great Reading, we understand that the true driving force behind student success lies in the hands of dedicated educators. Partnering with edWeb was a natural next step in fulfilling our mission of equipping administrators and teachers with the right tools and knowledge to ensure the best student literacy outcomes.”

Lisa Schmucki, the founder and CEO of edWeb.net, commented, “We’re excited to launch the Really Great Reading’s professional learning community on edWeb. Their series of webinars and many resources will provide a great collaborative forum on structured literacy.”

Educators are invited to join the Structured Literacy Instruction community and register for the upcoming edLeader Panel Closing the Reading Gap for EL Learners: Your Multilingual Learners Are Here.
