In spite of the fact that online education has been massively developing over the last decade, we cannot deny the fact that the majority of teaching still takes place in a traditional classroom. A teacher has to teach over 20 students with different learning styles, skills and priorities, which is a challenging task, especially when the classroom time is limited. As you see, the blending learning has a bunch of benefits, but only when it is applied wisely.

And, to be clear, the poll findings should not be taken to generalize to any student population beyond high school (like to elementary or middle school students).

Throughout the school year, I have been assisting them with digital pedagogy as it relates to blended learning and the use of flex spaces. A secondary goal has been facilitating a transition from blended instruction to blended learning.

Julia Freeland Fisher is the director of education research at the Clayton Christensen Institute. The National Education Policy Center (NEPC) released a report last week warning that online and blended learning schools are struggling. Regarding blended learning in particular, the report used a deeply flawed methodology to count and evaluate the blended schools nationwide. The reality is that blended learning is flourishing.
