These days, schools are trying to figure out how to bring making into every facet of the school day, with mobile kits, clubs and more. Cicely Day works in Oakland, California at Burckhalter Elementary School as an instructional teacher leader, where she helps support teachers and students in ELA/math and in the computer lab.

I love that this works with their individual mobile phone cameras. To access these features, just toggle from Auto to Pro. Additionally, even if we are only working on mobile devices, students can make a full video with b-roll and music on any of their devices. It uses film that was preloaded in the program.

Despite claims made by some, the maker movement is no fad -- it's just a new name for something lots of people have been doing for a long time. I had my first "maker moment" at 4 years old. With a generous donation from the PTA, lots of hustle on DonorsChoose.org , and some dumpster diving, our Maker Lab was born!

We can bring Google Cardboard and our mobile phones into our classrooms (which I’ve certainly done, and it’s been very useful), but virtual reality is so much more. Virtual reality is here, and it is accessible. Now, I’m not saying we’ll stop needing real teachers, because the world will always need teachers.

This fun, visual tool lets students explore 150 different science and social studies units for elementary and middle school learners. We have a Green Bronx Machine mobile classroom kitchen. They’re doing awesome things to drive inquiry based learning. The Kids Discover online platform lets students enter discovery mode.
